News 2023 - Railways in Worcestershire

The only news in the first part of 2023 was negative.  In April Network Rail made an emergency closure of a bridge between Didcot and Oxford.  Great Western trains were quickly reorganised to run only to Oxford.

Class 800 five-car unit No.800030 was operating one such train on Friday 20th May 2023.  The unit is blocking the 'down' line at Malvern Wells for the driver to change ends to take the empty stock to Great Malvern for the 10.50 to Oxford (train code No.1P21).  The train made it only as far as Worcester Shrub Hill where it was terminated.
