EVESHAM VALE LIGHT RAILWAY

(grid reference SP 045465)

The Evesham Vale Light Railway opened in August 2002. It is a 15" miniature gauge steam railway that carries passengers from the station adjacent to the Evesham Country Park car park through an orchard to a picnic and viewing area.

At the time of our visit the railway was not operating and none of the locomotives were visible. The following is taken from the 2006 Evesham Country Park publicity brochure:

Here is the 2006 operating timetable:

This is 5751' Prince William' built in 1949 by the G.&S. Lgiht Enginnering Co Ltd of Stourbridge. At the time of writing this was the largest steam locomotive on the line. The green locomotive on the left was built by the Exmoor Steam Railway (No.302) in 2003. This photograph appears in the 2006 Publicity Brochure.

The 2007 timetable is not to hand but their web site can be found here. Basically they are open bank holidays and the normal times when there are school holidays.
