BRUSH TYPE 4 DIESEL LOCOMOTIVES

47156 at Severn Tunnel Junction

512 examples of the Brush Traction type 4 diesel electric locomotives were built for British Railways. Delivery commenced in 1962 and they were numbered from D1500 to D1999 and D1100 to D1111.

During July 1964 Brush type 4 diesel electric locomotive No.D1749 arrived at Worcester for crew training duties and later was replaced by blue 'XP64' liveried example No.D1733. The archives of the MIAC do not contain any photographs of No.D1749 whilst it was based at Worcester in 1964 but the locomotive became No.47156 in the 1973 re-numbering scheme and is seen here stabled at Severn Tunnel Junction depot on 24th May 1975.
