From 1st March 1997 local services in Worcestershire that originated from Birmingham were privatised and trains were operated by Central Trains, a subsidiary of National Express plc. This decision came as a shock to many in Birmingham as the operator already possessed a near monopoly of bus services in the West Midlands.



Never mind the quality of the trains service but instead take a look at the glossy publicity.
The Central Trains franchise lasted until 10th November 2007. The new operator was London Midland .
