THE ROBERT PRITCHARD PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTION

This is 'Grange Class' No.6876 'Kingsland Grange' (a Bristol St Philip's Marsh engine) at the head of 1A68, the 12:05 from Hereford to London deputising for a failed diesel. The engine ended its days at Worcester in November 1965. The other Kingsland Grange is a school in Shrewsbury.

This superb photograph shows Standard class 9F 2-10-0 No.92135 of Saltley Shed rounding the course towards Shrub Hill Station on 11th December 1965. The locomotive has probably come from the P.W.D. at Newland and is passing over the bridge that previously gave access to the Coal Drop Sidings. This bridge was still in use in 2011 providing road access to the diesel multiple unit servicing sidings.
