This is 'Grange Class' No.6876 'Kingsland Grange' (a Bristol St Philip's Marsh engine) at the head of 1A68, the 12:05 from Hereford to London deputising for a failed diesel. The engine ended its days at Worcester in November 1965. The other Kingsland Grange is a school in Shrewsbury.
This superb photograph shows Standard class 9F 2-10-0 No.92135 of Saltley Shed rounding the course towards Shrub Hill Station on the no single track line from Henwick and Worcester Foregate Street on 11th December 1965. The locomotive is probably heading back from the PWD at Newland The train is passing over the bridge that previously gave trains access to Coal Drop Sidings.
