One of the most important changes to the permanent way in Worcestershire took place in November 1973 when many of the lines at Worcester were altered and two signal boxes were taken out of use. The culmination of these works required a total possession of the line over the weekend of 17th November 1973. For passengers the most obvious feature is bi-directional working through Worcester Foregate Street station. In effect there are now two single lines at Worcester Foregate Street. The former 'up' line that went to either Worcester Shrub Hill or Droitwich now goes to and from Droitwich only. Similarly the 'down' line from Worcester Shrub Hill and Droitwich now goes to and from Worcester Shrub Hill only.
The MIAC has been able to obtain the railway notices for this resignalling scheme including two maps. These are reproduced in full on the following two pages that will take some time to load. Firstly there is a web page containing three sheets of narrative and this is followed by a second page with two maps.
