This interesting letter written by an official of BR's Western Region displays an enlightened attitude towards railway enthusiasts.

A Worcester based 'Castle' class engine No.7005 'Sir Edward Elgar'. Another 'Castle' class No.7022 'Hereford Castle' is on the left.

This is double chimney fitted 'Castle' class No.7022 "Hereford Castle" (the locomotive in the left on the photograph above). Note also the straight sided tender.

The locomotive shed building in this photograph is generally referred to as being the goods shed but was known locally as the 'washout' for obvious reasons. On the right is No.8415, one as Worcester's 0-6-0 Pannier tank engines, the other locomotive is a Castle Class.
