In 1965 ex-GWR 'Grange' class 4-6-0 No.6859 'Yiewsley Grange' pauses at Hartlebury Station to load parcels whilst hauling the 18:45 Worcester to Crewe parcels, by the time the locomotive had lost its nameplate. By 1965 it was unusual to see an ex-GWR locomotive in such a clean condition. This one had been cleaned for a use on the SLS/RCTS 'West Wales Railtour' on 26th Septbember 1965. Robert Pritchard noted the locomotive in immaculate condition on Worcester engine shed on 28th September 1965 and it is therefore reasonable to assume that this photograph was taken at that time. Yiewsley is between Slough and Southall in Middlesex.

Ex-GWR 'Hall' class 4-6-0 No.5951 'Cliffe Hall' of Gloucester shed is seen in Worcester Works for repair.

Seen at Pershore (probably in 1964) are a pair of 'Castle' class 4-6-0s the first of which is an immaculate No.7023 'Penrice Castle'. The locomotives are returning to Worcester shed having been placed in the goods yard to allow a 'down' express to pass on the main line. The second 'Castle' might well be No.7005 'Sir Edward Elgar' (compare with this photograph).

Stanier class 8F 2-8-0 No.48739 of Shrewsbury shed is seen in Eckington 'up' loop whilst working a Bridgewater to Wallercote chemical tanks train. Note the 'up' main signal. The driver of the train was Duggie Chapman and Mick Rock was the fireman which allowed him the opportunity to take this rare image.

On the former B&GR is No.70051 'Firth of Forth' of Crewe North shed making light work of a Birmingham New Street to Gloucester Eastgate stopping train seen descending the Lickey Incline between Blackwell & Bromsgrove.

Standard class 2 2-6-0 No.78008 of Wolverhampton Stafford Road shed is seen passing Worcester Engine Sheds on the section of line from Rainbow Hill to Worcester Foregate Street. Just visible behind the locomotive is the train which in this case is the 'down' Wolverhampton to Great Malvern pigeon train. At Great Malvern the train would be placed in the former Ashchurch line platform and at the appropriate time a Station Porter would release the pigeon's from their baskets. The train would then return empty to Wolverhampton.
