Kings Norton is an important station as it forms the junction of the Birmingham and Gloucester Railway line with the Birmingham West Suburban line. Nowadays the Birmingham West Suburban line is the most important line as it is electrified as part of Centro's "Cross City" line and carries all local passenger traffic. The Birmingham and Gloucester Railway's route via Camp Hill lost its local passenger service in 1946 and is now used primarily for freight and some cross country passenger trains.
The date when Kings Norton was opened is not known but John Marks (Birmingham Railways on old picture postcards, ISBN 0 946245 73 8) suggests 1849.

This photograph is taken looking towards Birmingham. Beyond the bridges the Camp Hill line goes off to the right whilst the main line (Birmingham West Suburban line) goes off to the left.

Virgin Trains No.220.008 is on crew training.

Centro class 323 No.323241 is seen arriving at Kings Norton on the 10:32 Longbridge to Lichfield City.
