HANBURY BRICK WORKS

Hanbury Church

The above photograph shows a detailed engraving on the gravestone of Henry Parry who died in 1847. This appears to show that he was accidently run over by a horse that was in use on a tramway. The location has not been positively identified but is believed to be at a clay pit and brick works. This may be Hanbury Brickworks as Thos. A. Everton who owned the brickworks in the 1920s and 1930s is thought to have used a narrow gauge tramway. Further research is needed and we would be pleased to receive information to add to or correct this entry.

The gravestone can be found in Hanbury Churchyard.
