The above locomotives were all recorded here about 1920.

Letter from Halesowen Steel Co

The use of these locomotives at Halesowen is a bit of a mystery and the above letter in the archives of the Industrial Railway Society is the only known information.

  - 4wBE Greenwood & Batley 6061 of 1961 (from new to 7/1974)

GB 6061

The Greenwood & Batley locomotive was delivered new to Halesowen Steel Co Ltd on 2nd November 1961 and was later transferred to work at Flather Bright Steels Ltd in Sheffield. It went back to Halesowen for storage only from where it was bought for preservation and it is now at the Steeple Grange Light Railway at Cromford where it is seen in this photograph. Maker's official photograph of Greenwood & Batley works number 6061, taken inside their works at Armley, Leeds, prior to delivery to the Halesowen Steel Co Ltd on 2nd November 1961. This two ton battery-electric locomotive was a type 'DWD Trammer' and was fitted with a three-speed drum controller and a 5hp electric motor. It worked on 1ft 6in gauge track.
